The Henry McKenna 10 Single Barrel, named for Henry McKenna, the Irish immigrant who adapted his family’s whiskey recipe to work with the grains he found in Kentucky offers the sweet aroma of vanilla, caramel, oak, and a light herbaceous note , the taste of smooth oak, sharp spices, honey, and sweetness, and a finish that is long sweet and spicy. Larceny Small Batch with its bright new copper color gives the aroma of fresh bread and toffee, with a note of butterscotch; the taste is buttery caramel and honey notes, with a rich mouth-feel, while its finish is described as long, gently sweet and savory. The third in this bundle is Elijah Craig Small Batch, an award winning Bourbon with the nose of vanilla, caramel, nut and oak, a palate that is blunt oaky and sweet and f finish of cinnamon and oak, mild heat and intensity.

In 1837, a young man from Ireland known for his remarkable whiskey-making skills, came to America with his family’s whiskey recipe that had been passed down for generations. Young Mr. McKenna settled in Kentucky and discovered the uniquely American drink known as Bourbon. McKenna instantly took a liking to Kentucky whiskey and set out to create a better Bourbon using his family’s recipe. To ensure the highest quality, he insisted that his Bourbon age in oak barrels before bottling. From this process, highly unusual for the time, emerged a remarkably smooth Bourbon boasting a distinctive character. As one of the only extra-aged Bottled-in-Bond Single Barrel Bourbons, Henry McKenna Single Barrel satisfies those looking for a real whiskey with real history. The super-premium status is conveyed through new packaging. The front label contains handwritten authentication of the barrel number and the barreled on date. It also emphasizes the Bottled-In-Bond designation and the 10 year age statement.
Nose: Aroma of warm spices, smoke and burnt caramel. Notes of chewy leather, chili peppers and habanero.

The famous bourbon brand Old Fitzgerald was named for John E. Fitzgerald, who according to a family biography of Pappy Van Winkle may have been a rather more colorful character than we imagine!
Fitzgerald, it seems, was a bonded treasury agent, one of the only people to carry keys to the storage warehouses. Apparently he also had a taste for the very finest bourbons and didn't mind helping himself! It was this infamous character with the fine palate who was immortalised by the brand back in the 1880s.
