The original wheated bourbon, now in a premium gold foil presentation—same legendary liquid, elevated aesthetic.
W.L. Weller Special Reserve has just been elevated with a stunning new look. This special gold foil edition replaces the classic green twist cap with an elegant gold foil top, marking a premium refresh for one of bourbon's most beloved expressions. But don't worry—the liquid inside remains unchanged: the same smooth, approachable wheated bourbon that has made Weller a household name among whiskey enthusiasts.
The W.L. Weller brand traces its origins to William Larue Weller, a pioneering Kentucky distiller who revolutionized bourbon in 1849 by replacing rye with wheat in the mash bill. This bold innovation created a softer, sweeter whiskey that would inspire generations—including the legendary Pappy Van Winkle line. Today, W.L. Weller Special Reserve is crafted at Buffalo Trace Distillery, carrying forward that wheated bourbon legacy with every bottle.
On the nose, expect sweet aromas of caramel, honey, and butterscotch, complemented by subtle floral notes and a hint of soft woodiness. The palate delivers a harmonious blend of honey, butterscotch, and mild fruit flavors with a touch of baking spice. The finish is smooth and graceful, featuring lingering vanilla and a wisp of soft oak.
