The first Bacardi rum originates from 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó bought his first rum distillery in Cuba. There was a colony of fruit bats that resided in the rafters at the distillery, which is why the label has a pretty dramatic bat. Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe is remarkably constant. Bacardi Superior rum is made with a special yeast strain identified in Cuban sugarcane fields. Before and after being matured in oak barrels for at least one year, the rum is filtered through charcoal, a technique pioneered by Bacardi.
The nose is light and fresh, with a hint of spice and pepper, and it's fairly lively. Medium-bodied, with notes of tropical fruit, dark brown sugar, and winter spice on the palate. Smooth vanilla spice flavors characterize the finish. It's well-known for its propensity to make a cocktail taste better. Bacardi Superior will work wonderfully in any cocktail that calls for white rum. Here are a few of our go-to drink concoctions. Do try and share your thoughts with us -
