James E Pepper 1776 Rye - A Nod To The History

The Pepper family franchise is Kentucky's earliest whiskey brand, founded in 1780 during the American Revolution. Colonel James E. Pepper, the label's descendant, affectionately referred to it as Old '1776.' In 2012, the award-winning James E Pepper 1776 Rye was developed in collaboration with other distilleries to bring the old model back to life. As a result, it has gained a lot of praise in the whiskey realm. 100 Proof - Uninterrupted; 95 percent Rye and 5% Malted Barley in the Mash Bill; Aged 3-4 years; Distilled at Indiana's Lawrenceburg Distillery.

It was nominated for multiple awards. 2021 - Gold Medal; San Francisco World Spirits Competition, 2020 - 91 points; International Wine and Spirits Competition, and 2019 - Double Gold Medal; San Francisco World Spirits Competition are only a handful of them.

1776 Whiskey - Sensory Notes

1776 whiskey, A rye whiskey reintroduced under the James E Pepper label. Even though James' grandfather is credited with founding the oldest Kentucky distillery in 1776, the James Pepper brand was at its peak in the early twentieth century, albeit it had faded by the end. It's back with this delicious, bourbon-like rye whiskey.

The nose is peppery and stands up to 100 percent alcohol content. Honey, dill, butter, copper, cinnamon, and a hint of pineapple and wood on the palate. The rye dominates the finish with white pepper, dill, clove, oil, nuts, and fruit notes.

James E Pepper 1776 Rye - A Premium Rye Whiskey

The James E Pepper Rye is a tremendous drinkable whiskey, but we prefer it in cocktails. The whiskey's 50 percent alcohol by volume and high spice content gives it the strength to complement and stand out in a cocktail. This whiskey has a good balance to it. It is delicious neat, or on the rocks, and it also makes a fantastic Manhattan. Club soda or ginger ale can also be added to the alcohol.
